Latona Cooperative Preschool

Come Play and Learn With Us!

Located in the Northgate neighborhood, our light and spacious classroom is on the North Seattle College campus. The Latona Co-operative Preschool works to facilitate a community of children who are free to WONDER, DISCOVER and EXPERIENCE. Our classroom, with its many windows and high ceilings, gives our kids room to spread their wings and expand their minds. At Latona we cultivate a classroom that honors diversity by providing a warm, inclusive, environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally and creatively. Our play based curriculum allows the innate playful nature of children to be the guide in the process of learning.

Our classroom has several spaces for children to learn through free-choice play including Art, Blocks, Sensory, Dramatic Play, Large Motor, and the Library. Time is devoted in each class period, during Circle Time, for music, singing, movement, and stories.

At Latona, our children have access to TWO outdoor play areas. Our main outdoor play area is located in a grassy field perfect for running and obstacle courses. It has a large sandbox, a music pergola, a sound garden, and a climbing structure with room for all. We are also fortunate to have a large covered play area which is perfect for rainy days. It has a sandbox, smaller climbing structures, riding toys, and room to run.

Classes

Latona Preschool offers 3 classes for preschool age children:

  • Pre-3s (2-3 year olds): Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:00am
  • 3-5s (3-5 year olds): Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings 9:00-11:45am (plus Tuesday afternoon for pre-k children 12:00-3:00)
  • Evening Multiage (infants to 5 years old): Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm
  • Affordable tuition with scholarships available

Parent Involvement

Cooperative preschool is about involvement. Not only do the parents play important roles as assistant teachers one day per week, they also run the school through Board and Committee positions. Parents attend a parent education meeting once a month that is facilitated by a trained Parent Educator. These meetings provide an opportunity to ask questions and to discuss a variety of topics relevant to your child’s development. Through working at school, and attending the meetings, parents get to know others in their community and form lasting friendships. We hope you consider joining our school!
