The Wallingford Pre-3s Class meets Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 am. Children in class must be 2 years old by August 31st of that year.

Children in this program are just beginning to separate from parents and become their own selves and the classroom focus is creating a trusting and caring environment for these young ones. Skill building includes having a schedule and managing transitions, using words instead of the body as a method of interaction, increasing the vocabulary to do so and allowing the time for children to practice the skills they are learning, whether with peers or simply washing their hands. Lots of hugs and songs are included with the joy of play.

Pre-3s Class Schedule:
9:30-10:15 Free Choice Area Play
10:15-10:20 Pick-up
10:20-10:40 Small Group and Snack
10:40-11:05 Outside Play
11:05-11:10 Pick-up and Wash Hands for Circle Time
11:10-11:30 Circle Time and Goodbye Song

Our Teacher – Kerri Brown-Wooster

Kerri’s bubbly personality captures the imagination of parents and children alike and her calm and even presence keeps their interest. She adores music and art and uses puppets and other playful tools during circle time. And her reputation for running a smooth and engaging class precede her. Her belief in the importance for early childhood development guides her work as she creates opportunities for focused play in a safe, engaging and creative environment.

Kerri hails from Stourbridge in England. She graduated top of her class with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from University of Wolverhampton. There, she led a program using drama therapy and British sign language in the education of children with various disabilities. Since then, Kerri’s primary focus has been early childhood education with an emphasis on drama and creative play.

In Seattle, she was a children’s teacher at the Parent Child Center at Seattle Central College from 2013 to 2016. Her two boys attend John Rogers Elementary, where she is the PTA President. Building a community throughout north Seattle is very important to her and she anticipates that a big part of that community will be through Wallingford Co-op.
